CloseCircle Education is operated by Drum Cussac, a global travel security consultancy with almost 20 years’ experience protecting people and travellers across the world.
Responsible for safeguarding more than 15 million lives on a daily basis, Drum Cussac has a strong background in the higher education sector with current customers including NYU, SOAS, Michigan and Suffolk universities.
You can access Closecircle via a mobile app and secure online portal.
CloseCircle works in two key ways:
Ensuring safety before & during travel
We help you prepare for a trip by providing risk assessments for every country in the world, with our expert team only a phone call away if any further advice is required.
All staff and students in the field will receive real-time alerts for potential hazards within 50km of their location.
We continually monitor global incidents and proactively contact all travellers caught within the impact radius of an incident to confirm their well-being.
Ensuring safety in an emergency
If unavoidable security threats do arise, CloseCircle’s team of experts will get your travellers to safety no matter the size of the group, their location or the time of day.
In an emergency, a single swipe of the app’s SOS panic-button alerts our expert team, who will provide a rapid response and, where necessary, on-the-ground support and evacuation.
This comes at no extra cost to your institution.
In April 2015, an earthquake in Nepal killed more than 9,000 people and injured another 23,000. One of our educational clients had ten students on field trips in Nepal at the time.
We successfully evacuated all ten students out of the disaster zone and back home to the US and UK. This included chartering a plane to rescue a lone student at the Mount Everest base camp in Lukla.
In the immediate aftermath, we flew in extra protection officers to keep everyone safe from the risk of further earthquakes, after tremors and unrest in the local population.
We also kept the students’ families and institutions back home informed and reassured at all times.
